In 2012 I was awarded a Leverhulme Artist in Residence Award in conjunction with the Leicester University’s Centre for Urban History. Over 9 months I made a series of works celebrating the city’s manufacturing past and the wealth of industrial buildings still standing, even if no longer used for their original purpose. The Corah Works once made clothes for M&S and took St Margaret as one of the very first registered trademarks for knitted goods. The statue was relocated in front of the 12th century church when the factory became empty in the 1980s.
