The roots of the Botanic Garden go back to 6 October 1920, when the officers of the Botanical Section of the Leicester Literary and Philosophical Society were invited to undertake the work of establishing such a garden… and as Leicester University celebrates its 100th birthday in 2022 I hope this linocut does it justice!

Its present site was acquired in the 1940s and incorporated 4 grand Arts and Crafts Houses – Hastings House, Southmeade House, The Knole and Beaumont House which in its time was reputed to have one of the finest gardens in the county!

Also available as a tea towel, please see my Cards & Gifts section of the website.

MEDIUM: Linocut
