In 2012 I was awarded a Leverhulme Artist in Residence Award in conjunction with the Leicester University’s Centre for Urban History. Over 9 months I made a series of works celebrating the city’s manufacturing past and the wealth of industrial buildings still standing, even if no longer used for their original purpose. Once the home of the iconic typewriters and the scene of some important Industrial and Trade Union landmark decision in the 1970s even though it now houses dozens of small organisations and business the building still stands proudly on the edge of the city.
